The River of Grief

Grief and love are sisters, woven together from the beginning. Their kinship reminds us that there is no love that does not contain loss and no loss that is not a reminder of the love we carry for what we once held close.”
― Francis Weller
One-to-one grief support sessions - the pain of grief is not meant to be borne alone
When loss enters our lives, everything can feel different. As the pain of loss sears through us, the ground beneath us shifts and the way forward becomes uncertain.
Loss can be a lonely path, asking us to bear what feels unbearable. Grief asks for a space to be welcomed, to breathe, to be expressed, witnessed, felt, to flow, and be held with care. The love we had and lost, and the love we never received - requires wider holding, and companionship on the path.
I offer one-to-one grief support sessions, providing a gentle and compassionate space where you can bring your loss exactly as it is. Together, we make room for your grief, allowing it to be felt safely, without judgement or the need to be anything other than yourself.
Grief comes in many ways
-
Bereavement of a dearly beloved one
-
Endings - of a dream, or a relationship
-
Sorrows of the world - the atrocities of genocide, the pollution of our waters
-
Identity loss - who we thought we were as our sense of self is in transition
-
Loss of our health due to chronic illness and disability
-
The love we did not receive, and what was missing
Grief may arrive suddenly, changing everything in an instant. Or it may gather quietly over time, accumulating through many losses, disappointments, and unmet needs. Whatever form it takes, grief asks to be acknowledged. It asks for space to be felt, witnessed, and honoured.
This work will be gently supported by Hawthorn - a plant that has long held the heart’s journey with grief, and Water – encouraging our waters within to flow.
Sessions have the option of including bodywork to support your process.
I have completed an Apprenticeship in Grief, a grief tending training inspired by the Dagara lineage of Bukina Faso. Honouring my teacher Sophy Banks and her teacher Sobonfu Somé.
